Frequently Asked Questions
For Patients
What should I expect during my appointment?
During your visit and your initial consultation, we will review a brief health history, obtain informed consent, and discuss your foot care concerns and goals. Your appointment includes a comprehensive foot and skin assessment, trimming, filing, and thinning of toenails, and gentle reduction of corns and calluses when needed. At the end of your visit, we provide personalized care recommendations.
Does the service hurt?
No. Our nurse-led team is experienced in working with seniors and individuals with sensitive feet. We use a gentle, comfort-focused approach.
Will I bleed during the service?
Bleeding is very uncommon. Our conservative techniques and professional training help minimize risk and ensure a safe experience.
I’m embarrassed about my feet, should I be worried?
Not at all. Many clients have delayed foot care due to mobility issues or health concerns. We provide respectful, judgment-free care focused on helping you feel comfortable and confident.
Do you provide care for diabetic patients?
Yes. We routinely provide preventative foot care for individuals with diabetes and emphasize early identification of concerns to help reduce the risk of complications.
Can you work on thick or fungal-looking nails?
Yes. We can safely thin thickened nails, which often provides immediate comfort and pressure relief.
Can you diagnose fungal nails?
No. As nurses, we do not diagnose conditions. If a concern is identified, we may recommend follow-up with a podiatrist or healthcare provider.
Are your tools sterilized?
Yes. All tools are either single-use disposable or professionally cleaned and sterilized. Each client receives properly sanitized instruments for every visit.
Do you carry liability insurance?
Yes. SmartSoles Foot Care is a licensed business and carries professional liability insurance.
How much do services cost?
Pricing varies based on location and services. Please call or text 216-894-8538 for current pricing and availability. Bookings and prices can also be found on the booking
Do you accept insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid?
No. SmartSoles Foot Care is a private-pay service. This allows us to provide transparent pricing and unrushed, one-on-one care.
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can schedule by calling or texting 216-894-8538. We are happy to assist patients, caregivers, and family members.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur a fee.
Do you trim fingernails as well?
Yes. Fingernail care can be added to your visit. Please request this at the time of booking.
Do I need to soak my feet before my appointment?
No. Foot soaking is not required.
Do you have a physical office?
No. SmartSoles Foot Care is a mobile service. We provide care in private homes, senior living communities, and residential facilities.
How are you different from a podiatrist?
Podiatrists diagnose and treat medical conditions of the feet. SmartSoles Foot Care provides routine, preventative foot and nail care and will refer you for medical follow-up if needed.
Do you offer nail polish or cosmetic services?
No. Our focus is foot health and safety. Nail polish can conceal nail conditions and harbor bacteria.
I have nail polish on, will you remove it?
Yes. We will remove non-gel polish to properly assess nail health.
Can you provide care if I have gel polish?
We ask that gel polish be professionally removed prior to your appointment. Gel polish interferes with proper nail care and equipment use.

Do you provide services in memory care units?
Yes. Depending on resident needs, a family member or caregiver may be requested for consent and medical history, especially during the first visit.
